SlumGods. Cuz we were never dogs.
Language has been used to control the minds and hearts of the world’s indigenous populations for centuries. Currently in India, a collective of young visionaries have enabled themselves through the culture of Hip-Hop, engaging in all of its elements to provide themselves and their peers a platform to grow and learn. These elements include breakdancing, emceeing, aerosol art, dj-ing, and gaining knowledge. They serve as growing catalysts of change, working from the inside out and recognizing the divinity that exists among all living things. SlumGods began by the collective synchronicity and energy of Bboy Aku of Dharavi, Bboy He Ra (Netarpal Singh) and Mandeep Sethi.
SlumGods are currently developing and implementing curriculum using hip hop aesthetics to engage local youth in New Delhi and Mumbai. SG Crew works hand in hand with Tiny Drops, Hip-Hop Community Center, to envision a better future and uplift consciousness.
